Media magazine

The article that I chose discusses how celebrities adapted to live during covid 19 lockdown and how their public image shufted during this time. It highlights how many stars turned to social media and online platforms such as tiktok, instagram and snapchat to share content such as cooking, everyday lives, livestreams and sometimes even performances. At the same time the article talks about the growing public’s criticism of celebrities, with everyone stuck at home, the public started criticising celebrities lifestyles since they are very wealthy, and therefore were disconnected from ordinary people’s struggles. This therefore led to a difference in how celebrity culture was normally consumed and interpreted.

This related to media studies because celebrities have shaped how they are seen in the media, and lockdown revealed the constructed personality and appearance of celebrities. The pandemic highlighted the social inequalities, forcing a re evaluation of what celebrity means and how much cultural value society assigns to celebrities.

Sixth form poster

The task was to use DLSR camera and try to promote the school sixth form, during our lesson Florence, Ara, Bobby and I visited different areas in our school including the library, the sixth form block and the science corridor. Whilst doing this activity I learnt how to use the camera, and adjust the angles according to the lighting and how the people are placed. Furthermore, if I did this again, I would use a different layout in my poster, to make it more conventional and welcoming, for example, brighter colours, bigger and less photos, and some inspirational quotes and messages from people throughout the sixth form. In addition, I would place the models in better lighting so it doesn’t cause strange rays across the photos.
